The long-running 19-year saga over the estate and alleged children of Kadongo Kamu legend Paul Kafeero is finally heading for a dramatic ending, as Minister Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi advocates for the public reading of the results.
The Uganda Police Force and the Directorate of Government Analytical Laboratory (DGAL) are set to publicly release and read the DNA results on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Police Headquarters in Naguru.
Speaking as the announcement was made, the Minister for Local Government praised the forensic teams for what he called “dedication, professionalism, and tireless effort” in trying to bring closure to a case that has dragged for nearly two decades.
He said the exercise, which involved more than 25 individuals claiming to be children of the late music icon, is finally giving the country answers after years of confusion, tension, and bitter family battles.
The DNA testing was jointly handled by Police forensic experts led by ACP Andrew K. Mubiru together with the DGAL team headed by Kepher Kuchana Kateu.
The final reading is expected to be a tense public moment, with journalists, clan leaders, mothers, relatives, and the claimants all expected to be in attendance as the truth is officially laid bare.

Paul Kafeero, one of Uganda’s most celebrated Kadongo Kamu voices, passed away in 2007, leaving behind a legendary catalogue of music—but also a long inheritance storm that refused to die quietly.
