Two Ugandan TikTokers have been remanded to Luzira Prison after being accused of publishing false allegations linking Minister for Local Government Balaam Barugahara to alleged acts of inciting disorder.

The suspects are Ronald Mayega, also known as Munyarwanda Wa Bobi, and Swaibu Kakaire, alias One-One. They appeared before Grade One Magistrate Winnie Nakamya Jatiko and denied the charges.

Prosecution led by Grace Amy told court that the duo allegedly used their TikTok platform, one.one.ug.media, to publish statements claiming that Balaam had incited Mayega or other individuals to engage in acts of disorder.

The two face charges of publishing false information, operating a media outlet without a Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) licence, and conspiracy to commit an offence.

Court remanded the suspects to Luzira until September 28, 2026, as police continue investigations.

The magistrate also directed prison authorities to investigate allegations that the two suspects had been tortured while in custody.
