The name Prince Divans Jacksonville Amooti is making rounds on social media as a young boy reportedly believed to be the son of the late Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV. Here we reveal all we know about him, his mother and how she was forced to flee the country,
King Oyo died on August 27, 2026, aged 34, after battling cancer in the United States. Following his death, Tooro Kingdom never announced that he had left behind a prince who would be revealed as heir at the appropriate time.
The kingdom has not officially identified the heir, meaning the claims circulating online about Amooti remain unconfirmed.
Photos and social media posts linking the name to Queen Juliet K. Mujungu Akiiki have further fueled speculation and confusion surrounding the succession.
“Amooti” is a traditional Tooro empako, or pet name, commonly used for males, including members of the royal family.
For now, the official succession process remains in the hands of the Babiito royal clan and traditional authorities, rather than social media claims, as Tooro continues preparations to lay King Oyo to rest.
