Political analyst and outspoken commentator Charles Rwomushana was reportedly taken away by armed men from Simba Radio studios in Bukoto earlier today, sparking confusion over what prompted the dramatic incident.
Rwomushana was reportedly appearing on the station’s morning programme, “Gasimbagane ne Bannamawulire,” when the men, said to be dressed in civilian clothes, entered the premises and took him away.
A video circulating online shows chaotic scenes inside the radio station, with staff and other people moving hurriedly through the premises.
However, the reason behind Rwomushana’s reported arrest or removal remains unclear, while the identities of the men involved and his current whereabouts had not been officially confirmed by publication time.
The incident has raised major questions about why Rwomushana was taken away and whether authorities will issue an official explanation.
Rwomushana, a former intelligence operative, has become one of Uganda’s most outspoken political commentators and has previously faced controversy over his political statements.
