Political analyst and commentator Charles Rwomushana has spoken out over reports linking him to the ongoing treason case involving opposition leader Dr. Kizza Besigye, saying he is not afraid of the possibility of being arrested.
Speaking during an appearance on NBS TV’s Barometer talk show, Rwomushana addressed growing speculation after his name surfaced in court documents filed by the prosecution.
According to the State, Salaam Musumba allegedly invited Kira Municipality MP Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, political activist Lubega Mukaku, and Charles Rwomushana to a meeting in Brussels, Belgium, where they reportedly met a British army veteran identified as Andrew Wilson (AW).
Prosecutors allege the meeting was convened to discuss plans to overthrow the Ugandan government through armed struggle and to seek military training and intelligence support.
Reacting to the allegations, Rwomushana dismissed speculation surrounding his possible arrest, maintaining during the television interview that he was not intimidated by the developments.
His remarks come as the high-profile treason case against Dr. Kizza Besigye continues to unfold before the courts.
Dr. Besigye remains in detention following his 2024 arrest after being brought from Kenya and is facing treason charges before court.
Meanwhile, his lead lawyer, Erias Lukwago, was charged with misprision of treason in June 2026 over allegations that he failed to report information related to the alleged activities under investigation.

The allegations cited by the prosecution remain before the courts, and no findings have been made on their merits. The accused persons are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
