Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Jacob Oboth-Oboth has given ROKO Construction a 10-month ultimatum to complete the long-delayed construction of Uganda’s new parliamentary chambers.
The directive followed an inspection of the project site by the Parliamentary Commission, which resolved that June 30, 2027, must be strictly observed as the new completion deadline.
ROKO officials and project consultants met with the Parliamentary Commission to review the challenges behind the delays, including structural design modifications and cash-flow constraints affecting the contractor.
ROKO Construction reportedly committed in writing to meeting the latest deadline under close supervision from Parliament.
The Speaker has now made it clear that there will be no further room for delays as Parliament pushes to finally bring the long-running new chambers project to completion.
