The controversy surrounding the DNA testing of the late Kadongo Kamu legend Prince Job Paul Kafeero has taken a fresh twist after Local Government Minister Balaam Barugahara publicly defended the forensic findings following comments made by Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa.
Balaam dismissed suggestions that the DNA results could be inaccurate, insisting the findings were scientifically verified by multiple independent laboratories.
Balaam Says Three Laboratories Reached The Same Conclusion
According to Balaam, the paternity tests were conducted and cross-verified by three separate laboratories — MBN, the Uganda Police Forensic Laboratory, and the Directorate of Government Analytical Laboratory.
He maintained that all three institutions independently arrived at the same conclusion, strengthening the credibility of the findings.
The DNA results confirmed that only four of the 25 individuals who claimed to be Kafeero’s biological children were a genetic match to the late music icon.
Balaam also revealed that he personally financed the DNA exercise, a disclosure that has generated further public discussion surrounding the high-profile inheritance dispute.
Tayebwa’s Comments Spark Fresh Debate
The latest controversy erupted after Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa shared a photograph of a man who bears a striking resemblance to Paul Kafeero, questioning whether physical appearance alone could contradict the DNA findings.
His remarks quickly reignited debate on social media, with supporters of several rejected claimants demanding further clarification on how the testing process was conducted.
The discussion has once again divided public opinion between those who trust the scientific results and those who believe additional reviews should be carried out.
Balaam Cites Kafeero’s Own Music
Responding to the growing criticism, Balaam referenced one of Kafeero’s songs that reflects on family relationships and paternity, suggesting the legendary singer himself often acknowledged the complexities surrounding identity and parenthood.
He argued that the DNA process remains the most reliable method of establishing biological relationships and should not be overshadowed by speculation or physical resemblance.
