U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has re-arrested Ugandan national Jimmy Kimera in Massachusetts, citing his criminal convictions and previous encounters with immigration authorities.
According to ICE Boston, Kimera was arrested on October 27, 2026, in Hudson, Massachusetts, during targeted immigration enforcement operations.
ICE said Kimera has convictions for two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and one count of assault and battery causing serious bodily injury. Some earlier charges filed against him were dismissed in 2022 and April 2026, according to the information provided.

Second ICE Arrest in 2026
Kimera’s latest detention follows an earlier ICE arrest in August 2026. He was released in September after a federal habeas corpus proceeding, which allowed him to remain free while a bond-related process was pending.
Immigration authorities have since taken him back into custody. ICE Boston also shared photographs of Kimera following the October 27 arrest.
The case comes amid ongoing debates in the United States over immigration enforcement, the detention of non-citizens with criminal convictions, and the legal procedures governing their release.
ICE has presented Kimera’s case as an example of what the agency describes as criminal non-citizens avoiding immigration consequences in sanctuary jurisdictions.
