Tanzanian music superstar Diamond Platnumz has revealed that he often turns down or delays performance bookings from Uganda but makes exceptions for comedian and event promoter Alex Muhangi, with whom he communicates directly.
Speaking during a press conference on Thursday, October 29, ahead of his performance at Lugogo Cricket Oval, Diamond said his relationship with Muhangi allows them to arrange shows without necessarily involving his management team.
“Most of the time, I get different bookings from here, but I either keep them pending or reject them. But for Alex, we communicate directly. He books with me, not even the management. We speak directly on the phone,” Diamond said.
Muhangi, the brains behind Comedy Store Uganda, has organised several of Diamond’s performances in Kampala and is spearheading the singer’s upcoming show.
Diamond is scheduled to headline the Retro Tour 10th Anniversary celebration at Lugogo Cricket Oval on Friday, October 30, 2026.
His remarks highlight the professional relationship and trust between the two entertainment figures as fans prepare for the highly anticipated Kampala performance.
