The Inspectorate of Government (IGG) has arrested former Arua District Chairperson Alfred Okuonzi over the alleged illegal sale of a government-owned motorcycle for Shs6.5 million.
According to the IGG, Okuonzi is suspected of selling a district-owned Yamaha motorcycle, registration number UFA 401N, which had been under his possession.
He was reportedly arrested alongside his son and two alleged brokers suspected of participating in the transaction.
The four suspects are expected to appear before the Anti-Corruption Court on November 2, 2026, as investigations into the alleged disposal of the government property continue.

Photographs shared by the IGG show Okuonzi being escorted to Arua Central Police Station, alongside images of the motorcycle at the centre of the investigation.
The arrest forms part of the Inspectorate’s efforts to investigate alleged corruption, hold individuals accountable for the misuse of public resources and recover government assets.
The allegations against Okuonzi and the other suspects are yet to be determined by court.
