TV personality and events MC Esco Star has opened up about his past relationship with his ex-girlfriend and baby mama, Haffy Powers, dismissing long-standing claims that he pursued her as part of a bet with friends.
His remarks come after the Sanyuka TV presenter revealed in a recent interview that one of the men she dated had placed a bet with his friends to see if he could win her over. Although she did not mention any names, Esco denied the allegation, insisting their relationship was genuine.
“There was no bet on my side. It was natural, and everything went on well,” Esco said.
He explained that being a high-profile couple brought enormous pressure from the public and the media, adding that what people saw online was very different from what they experienced in private.
“There was pressure of being together, and what people saw is not what may have been painted at home. I won’t say she had a bad character, but there were lots of challenges in between that a young person is not ready for,” he added.
Esco also dismissed rumors that he cheated on Haffy Powers with socialite King Deyonce during the UNAA Convention in the United States.
According to him, he only knew King Deyonce through a mutual acquaintance and said the media and bloggers exaggerated the situation, creating a false narrative about their relationship.
Looking back, Esco admitted he regrets exposing his relationship to the public, saying the attention only added pressure to their romance.
Drawing from his experience, he advised young people—especially those in the entertainment industry—not to rush into marriage.
“According to my experience and what I have seen, marriage is not for young people and not for everyone, especially those of us in the entertainment industry. Courtship is okay to a certain level because we break up easily over petty factors,” he said.

Esco’s candid remarks offer a rare glimpse into the challenges of maintaining relationships in the public eye, while putting to rest speculation surrounding his breakup with Haffy Powers.
