Former Speaker of Parliament Anita Among could soon face prosecution after reports emerged that investigators have completed the case file into allegations of corruption and money laundering.

According to the reports, the completed file paves the way for prosecutors to review the evidence and determine the next legal steps in one of Uganda’s most closely watched corruption investigations.

Among has been under investigation by a multi-agency security team since May 2026, when authorities carried out coordinated raids on her properties as part of an inquiry into alleged unexplained wealth, abuse of office, and money laundering.

During the operation, investigators seized several assets, including a luxury Rolls-Royce reportedly valued at about $440,000, alongside other items believed to be relevant to the investigation.

The latest development marks a significant milestone in the high-profile probe and has intensified public interest over whether formal criminal charges will now be brought against the former Speaker.

The case is unfolding amid Uganda’s wider anti-corruption campaign, with authorities maintaining that investigations into public officials will continue regardless of their status or previous positions.
