NRM National Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda Denis Hamson Obua has warned party district administrators against mismanaging funds allocated to support candidates in the upcoming Local Council (LC) elections.

Obua issued the warning during a high-level strategy meeting in Lira, where he met with NRM leaders, Members of Parliament, district chairpersons, and Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) from the Lango Sub-region.

The meeting focused on strengthening the ruling party’s grassroots structures and mobilization ahead of the LC1 elections scheduled for July 28, 2026.

Leading a delegation from the NRM Secretariat, Obua emphasized that every shilling released for campaign activities must be accounted for and used for its intended purpose.

He cautioned party administrators that any misuse of campaign funds would undermine the party’s efforts to secure victory at the village and parish levels, urging them to uphold transparency and accountability throughout the electoral process.

Obua also rallied NRM leaders across the Lango Sub-region to intensify grassroots mobilization and work together to deliver a strong performance in the forthcoming Local Council elections, which will be conducted under Uganda’s lining-up voting system.
