Senior Clinical Officer Kamugisha Asaph has been charged with obtaining Shs23 million by false pretences after allegedly promising victims jobs in Rwampara District Local Government.

Kamugisha appeared before Ndeija Magistrate’s Court in Rwampara District and was remanded until November 3, 2026, as the case proceeds.

According to the Anti-Corruption Unit, the allegations stem from an incident on February 23, 2026, when Kamugisha allegedly obtained the money from victims after promising to secure them jobs in the district local government.

His arrest followed public complaints raised during the national “Expose the Corrupt” campaign led by Minister of Local Government Balaam Barugahara in Rwampara District.

The complaints prompted the Anti-Corruption Unit to work with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) to investigate the allegations and facilitate his arrest and prosecution.

Kamugisha will remain on remand until his next court appearance on November 3, 2026. He is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.
