  • Five Kisoro officials have been arrested over an alleged job-selling scheme.
  • Investigators allege Shs200 million was solicited from job seekers.
  • Two other suspects remain on the run as investigations continue.

Five Kisoro District officials, including District Speaker Hakizimana Amos and District Service Commission (DSC) Chairperson Nshaka Erastus, have been arrested over allegations of soliciting millions of shillings from job applicants in exchange for government positions.

The arrests were carried out by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) following investigations into an alleged job-selling racket that reportedly operated between October and December 2025.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects allegedly solicited a total of Shs200 million from desperate job seekers, promising to use their influence to secure positions within the Kisoro District Local Government.

Authorities say the alleged scheme involved a coordinated network of district officials, including a district councillor, a member of the DSC and a broker who allegedly acted as a middleman.

Two other suspects — DSC Secretary Francesca Mugisha and alleged broker Matata Alex — are still at large.

The State House Anti-Corruption Unit said investigations are ongoing and appealed to members of the public with information about other alleged job-selling cases in Kisoro and elsewhere to come forward.

The suspects are expected to face corruption-related charges in court once investigations are completed.
