National Unity Platform (NUP) Deputy President for Buganda, Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi, has resurfaced after 19 days of disappearance, according to the party’s Secretary General, Lewis Rubongoya.

In a statement shared on X, Rubongoya said Kivumbi was reportedly dropped at Nateete Police Station on Wednesday morning by unidentified individuals.

Rubongoya revealed that the development came while NUP leaders and Kivumbi’s legal team were at the High Court following up on a habeas corpus application seeking orders for authorities to produce him or disclose his whereabouts.

“While we were at the High Court to follow up his Habeas Corpus application, we were informed that Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi was dumped this morning at Nateete Police. On reaching there, we’ve been informed he’s being taken to court in Butambala, and haven’t gotten the opportunity to see him yet. After 19 days of incommunicado detention!!” Rubongoya wrote.

Kivumbi’s reported reappearance comes after nearly three weeks of uncertainty over his whereabouts, with his family, lawyers, and supporters repeatedly demanding his release or disclosure of where he was being held.

Authorities had not immediately issued an official statement on the circumstances surrounding his disappearance or his transfer to court by the time of publication.
