Ugandan striker Ivan Ahimbisibwe has officially sealed a move to Iraqi side Zakho FC, putting pen to paper on a two-year contract in a transfer that marks a major step in his career outside East Africa.

The forward, popularly known among fans as “The Hunter”, completes the switch after his previously reported move to Tanzanian giants Azam FC collapsed, with negotiations between the clubs failing to reach a final agreement.

From KCCA Form to Foreign Opportunity

Ahimbisibwe leaves the Uganda Premier League after an impressive spell with KCCA FC, where he featured as one of the team’s key attacking options in recent seasons.

Before his time at KCCA, the striker also enjoyed strong scoring runs at URA FC, where he built a reputation as a reliable finisher and a consistent threat in the box, regularly featuring in the Golden Boot conversations.

Iraq Move Confirmed

Reports and club-linked updates indicate the deal was completed in late June 2026, with Zakho FC moving quickly to secure his signature as they continue strengthening their squad ahead of the new season in the Iraqi Stars League.

Ahimbisibwe joins a Zakho side that has been active in the transfer market, bringing in multiple international players as part of a broader squad rebuild aimed at improving competitiveness in the league.

A New Chapter Abroad

The move represents a significant career leap for the Ugandan forward, who now steps into a more physically demanding and highly competitive league environment in Iraq.

For Ahimbisibwe, the transfer also offers a bigger international platform, with expectations now shifting to how quickly he adapts and delivers in front of goal outside familiar East African football circles.
