Minister of Local Government Hon. Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi has issued a serious warning to corrupt government officials, revealing that he has received a recording device from Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba to document conversations with individuals who approach him.
Speaking about the new development, Balaam said the device enables him to record movements and conversations, warning that anyone attempting to influence him over corruption cases should think twice.
“I can now record all movements and conversations of people who approach me. Therefore, don’t call me asking for assistance over arrested corrupt officials. Above all, don’t think of bribing me,” Balaam said.
The minister’s remarks come as the government continues to intensify its anti-corruption campaign, with several public officials facing investigations and arrests over allegations of abuse of office, embezzlement, and misuse of public funds.
Balaam has been one of the most vocal Cabinet ministers supporting the crackdown, repeatedly urging public servants to uphold accountability and warning that corruption will not be tolerated.
His latest statement signals a tougher stance against individuals who may attempt to interfere with ongoing anti-corruption investigations or influence government officials through bribery.
