Wakiso District Chairperson and former NRM candidate Ian Kyeyune has called on his election challengers to pursue reconciliation instead of prolonging court battles over his victory.
Kyeyune made the remarks after the High Court in Wakiso adjourned proceedings in the election-related cases to September 22, 2026.
He said he believes the petitions filed against him are based on weak grounds but expressed willingness to resolve the disputes amicably.
Kyeyune is facing two petitions before court. The first was filed by voter Farouq Lule, who is challenging his nomination, while the second was filed by NUP flag bearer and Bobi Wine’s personal secretary, Nasif Najja, over alleged irregularities during the election.
The cases remain before court, with the next proceedings scheduled for September 22.
The legal disputes form part of growing post-election disagreements in Wakiso, where opposition actors, including the National Unity Platform, are challenging results from the recent local elections.
