Kasambya County MP Daudi Kabanda has dismissed claims that he will be pushed aside by presidential adviser Odrek Rwabwogo once reported internal issues within the First Family are resolved.
Kabanda, who heads the Office of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) Chairman and is a close ally of Muhoozi Kainerugaba, described the claims as “idiotic,” saying they have no basis.
According to the legislator, being a member of the First Family does not automatically give anyone the right to control or benefit from government resources.
“This is idiocy. How come General MK has not stolen government funds yet he is a first son? Being a member of the First Family doesn’t mean that you grab government ranches,” Kabanda said.
Kabanda argued that Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, despite being the son of President Yoweri Museveni, has not used his family background to misuse public funds.
His remarks come amid continued public speculation over succession politics within the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), where Odrek Rwabwogo, a senior presidential adviser and President Museveni’s son-in-law, is widely viewed as an influential figure.
Political observers have often discussed the perceived influence of both Rwabwogo and Muhoozi Kainerugaba within the ruling establishment, although neither has publicly confirmed any political rivalry.
Kabanda’s latest comments are expected to fuel further debate over power dynamics, succession discussions, and the future leadership of Uganda’s ruling party.
