Prince Kasim Nakibinge Kakungulu has joined Ugandans in celebrating the life and legacy of legendary musician Moses Matovu, describing the late Afrigo Band founder as a man he never knew for any bad behaviour.
Speaking while paying tribute to the veteran saxophonist, Nakibinge used a light-hearted football reference to describe Matovu, joking that the musician’s only “fault” was his support for SC Villa.
“I never knew any bad behavior from Moses Matovu, except supporting SC Villa,” Nakibinge remarked jokingly.
The comment drew attention to Matovu’s long-standing passion for the football club while also reflecting the affection with which he was remembered by those who knew him.
Matovu, who spent decades shaping Uganda’s live music scene as a singer, saxophonist and leader of Afrigo Band, died on September 24, 2026.
His death has triggered an outpouring of tributes from musicians, public figures, fans and cultural personalities, with many celebrating his contribution to Ugandan music and his role in building Afrigo Band into one of the country’s most enduring musical institutions.
Nakibinge’s remarks offered a lighter moment amid the mourning, highlighting the personal memories and humour surrounding the veteran musician’s legacy.
