Three people have died while 10 others were injured in a fatal road crash involving a Toyota Hiace drone along the Ishaka–Kagamba Road in Bushenyi District.

The accident happened at about 4:40pm on Sunday at Omukatagu, involving vehicle registration number UA 836AM.

Preliminary police findings indicate that the driver reportedly failed to negotiate a corner due to excessive speed while transporting mourners from Kashaka in Mbarara to Rwererere in Rukungiri.

“Speeding reduces a driver’s ability to react and safely negotiate bends,” Kananura said.

The injured victims were rushed to KIU Teaching Hospital and Kitagata Hospital for treatment.

Traffic Police spokesperson Michael Kananura urged motorists to observe speed limits, especially when approaching corners and other high-risk sections of the road.
