Acting Foreign Affairs Minister Haruna Kasolo  has assured Ugandan citizens fleeing xenophobic violence in South Africa that political affiliation will not determine who receives assistance during the ongoing repatriation exercise.

Speaking after the arrival of more than 200 Ugandans on Thursday night, Hon, Kasolo emphasized that every Ugandan who registers for repatriation will receive equal support, urging the public not to politicize the humanitarian exercise.

“No Ugandan should fear coming home because of politics,” Kasolo said, stressing that the government’s priority is the safety and welfare of all its citizens.

The returnees fled a wave of violent xenophobic attacks in South Africa and arrived home hoping to rebuild their lives.
