The High Court has upheld Cavendish University’s decision to dismiss Dr. Fredrick Kiwuwa Lugya after finding that he held two full-time academic positions at Cavendish University and Makerere University without proper disclosure which is against the law. In his judgment, Justice Musana agreed with the university’s position, ruling that Dr. Lugya could not maintain two full-time jobs while failing to comply with his contractual obligations. Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja has assured the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church that the government is considering adjustments to Uganda’s mandatory National Cleaning Day programme to accommodate members observing the Sabbath. The National Cleaning Day initiative requires Ugandans to participate in community clean-up exercises on the last Saturday of every month from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The first nationwide exercise was successfully held on July 25, 2026, as part of efforts to improve sanitation and protect public health. Kampala residents are to experience improved garbage collection services after the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) expanded its waste management fleet with 24 new trucks to help with cleaning all 5 divisions. KCCA revealed that it has acquired nine new 40-tonne Sino trucks, while development partners have provided an additional 15 trucks, bringing the total number of new waste collection vehicles to 24.
