Kasambya County MP and Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) official Daudi Kabanda has sparked debate after revealing that some of his public statements reflect the views of more influential figures within Uganda’s political establishment.

Kabanda made the remarks while appearing on NTV’s Ebigambo Tebitta programme, where he discussed the criticism he has faced over statements he makes publicly.

According to the legislator, some individuals have previously accused him of speaking on behalf of fellow Members of Parliament, only to change their position after realizing that he was representing the interests of more powerful figures.

He cited Masaka City MP and State Minister Justine Nameere as an example.

“My statements often represent the views of more influential figures. Hon. Justine Nameere once told me to stop speaking on behalf of MPs, but later changed her position after realising I was representing someone more influential,” Kabanda said.

The remarks have raised questions about the extent to which public statements by political figures within the PLU reflect the views of senior leaders.

Kabanda, who has held a prominent role within the PLU and is associated with Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s political activities, has previously made consequential statements on political matters, including parliamentary leadership and the movement’s positions.
