Uganda’s Parliament has appointed Grace Gidudu as the Acting Director of Communication and Public Affairs, filling the position left vacant following the arrest of former director Chris Obore.
Obore is currently under investigation by the Inspector General of Government (IGG) over allegations of embezzling billions of shillings from parliamentary funds between 2023 and 2026. The investigations led to his arrest, prompting Parliament to name an acting replacement to ensure continuity in its communications department.
Gidudu is an experienced communications professional who previously served as Assistant Director for Media Relations in Parliament. She is widely recognized for her extensive experience in public affairs, media relations, and parliamentary communication.
Her appointment comes just days after she addressed newly elected Members of Parliament, urging them to verify facts before making public statements and to use both traditional and social media responsibly.
According to Gidudu, fact-checking and responsible communication are essential in maintaining public confidence and protecting the credibility of public officials.
Her elevation to the acting role comes at a crucial time as Parliament works to maintain public trust while investigations into the alleged financial scandal involving its former communications director continue.

The IGG’s investigations into Obore and other suspects remain ongoing, with the accused presumed innocent unless proven guilty by a court of law.
