  • They now describe the incident as a “view once car” PR stunt.

Ugandan singing duo Kataleya and Kandle have opened up about the controversial BMW X3 they were “gifted” by their former management in December 2025, revealing that what appeared to be a major reward was allegedly only a publicity stunt.

The duo recalled how they were taken to a location believing they were going to shoot a music video, only to find members of the media and a BMW waiting for them.

The vehicle reportedly had a number plate featuring their names, Kataleya and Kandle. When they asked about the car, they said they were told by Black Shuga that it belonged to them.

We were so excited. We ran everywhere celebrating, took the car and enjoyed it,” the duo recalled.

Kataleya and Kandle said they drove the BMW for several days and were so convinced it was theirs that they even took it to a washing bay the following day.

However, according to the singers, the excitement did not last long.

They said the vehicle suddenly disappeared, prompting them to ask their management where it had gone.

It was then, they claim, that they were informed that the BMW had only been provided for PR purposes.

The duo have since described the experience as a “view once car” — something presented publicly as a gift but allegedly never intended to permanently remain in their possession.

The revelation has also made them reflect on criticism they received at the time, including comments from singer Prima Kardashi, who questioned why the duo had been given one expensive car to share instead of two cheaper vehicles.

Kataleya and Kandle said the criticism makes more sense to them in hindsight, particularly in light of the frustrations they later experienced with the same management team.

The singers eventually parted ways with Ray Pan in May 2026, bringing an end to their working relationship.
