In a stunning twist to their recent public fallout, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has appointed his brother-in-law Odrek Rwabwogo as his official secretary, just days after the two publicly clashed.

The development comes after Muhoozi, the UPDF Chief of Defence Forces and son of President Yoweri Museveni, accused Rwabwogo of criminal conduct, threatened his arrest and announced the dissolution of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Exports and Industrial Development (PACEID), which Rwabwogo chairs.

Muhoozi also appeared to distance himself from Rwabwogo as a family member, with their bitter exchanges touching on finances, export policy and political influence.

The tensions escalated further when Muhoozi made controversial remarks about his sister, Bishop Patience Museveni Rwabwogo, and her marriage to Rwabwogo.

He later indicated that he would hold private discussions with his sisters, Natasha Karugire and Patience, as efforts to address the family disagreements continued.

Now, in an unexpected turnaround, Muhoozi has reportedly handed Rwabwogo an official role as his secretary.

The appointment has already triggered fresh debate, with Kasambya County MP Daudi Kabanda responding, “He reports to me,” further fuelling speculation about the political dynamics surrounding the new role.

The dramatic development has left many questioning whether Muhoozi and Rwabwogo have buried their differences or whether the latest appointment represents another twist in the increasingly complicated power struggle surrounding Uganda’s First Family.
