The Parliament of Uganda will hold a special sitting on Monday, July 20, 2026, to honour the life and legacy of the late Rt. Hon. Gen. (Rtd) Moses Ali, a veteran politician, military officer, and long-serving legislator.

The special sitting, scheduled for 10:00 AM, will give Members of Parliament an opportunity to pay tribute to Gen. Moses Ali, who served Uganda for more than five decades in various leadership positions, including as Second Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Leader of Government Business in Parliament.

Gen. Moses Ali, who represented Adjumani West in Parliament for many years, was among Uganda’s most influential political figures, having served under different governments and built a career spanning the military, law, and public service.

The former UPDF General rose through the military ranks before joining active politics, where he held several senior cabinet positions and remained a key figure in Uganda’s political landscape until his death.

Parliament is expected to celebrate his contribution to Uganda’s development, particularly his role in representing the interests of the West Nile region and his decades of service to the nation.

Gen. Moses Ali passed away on July 17, 2026, leaving behind a legacy as one of Uganda’s longest-serving and most recognisable statesmen.
