Drama unfolded at the High Court in Kampala after the man accused of masterminding the murder of former Ndiga Clan leader Eng. Daniel Bbosa Lujja publicly admitted wrongdoing and asked for forgiveness from the Kabaka of Buganda and the entire Buganda Kingdom.
Lujja Bbosa Tabula appeared before the Criminal Division of the High Court today for plea-taking, where he expressed remorse over his alleged role in the killing that sent shockwaves through Buganda.
Tabula reportedly asked for forgiveness, particularly from Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, as he addressed the court over the murder case.
Tabula appeared in court alongside five co-accused persons — Noah Lujja, Milly Naluwenda, a clerk in Buganda’s traditional court, Harriet Nakiguli, Joseph Nakabale, and Ezra Mayanja.
The six are facing murder charges and have been on remand at Luzira Prison since March 11, 2024.
According to investigations presented in the case, the alleged motive behind Bbosa’s killing was linked to a bitter dispute over leadership of the Ndiga Clan.
In 2021, Tabula reportedly declared himself leader of the clan, a claim that was rejected by the late Eng. Daniel Bbosa.
The disagreement allegedly continued to escalate until it turned into a deadly rivalry.
Prosecutors have linked Tabula to the alleged plot to eliminate Bbosa, with the accused reportedly telling court that he masterminded the assassination out of anger over the disputed clan leadership and a desire for revenge.
The development adds a dramatic twist to a case that has remained under intense public interest since Bbosa was killed.
The former Ndiga Clan leader’s death sent shockwaves across Buganda, particularly because of his prominent position within the kingdom’s traditional leadership structures.
Following the killing, Tabula reportedly remained at large for several months before he was arrested on August 19, 2024.
Police investigations later took another disturbing turn when security officers raided properties reportedly linked to him in Mpigi District.
Investigators reportedly recovered several human skulls during the operations, although the circumstances surrounding the discovery and their connection to the murder case remain matters for the ongoing judicial process.
With Tabula now publicly expressing remorse and seeking forgiveness, attention has shifted back to the courtroom as the prosecution and defence proceed with the murder case.
The court will determine the fate of Tabula and his co-accused as proceedings continue.
