Kyambogo University has dismissed a viral social media post claiming that the institution had been ordered to suspend its 2026/2027 private admissions, assuring students, parents, and staff that normal operations are continuing.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Eli Katunguka addressed the matter in a video message shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, describing the circulating post as fake and urging the public not to be misled by misinformation.
The viral post, which was falsely attributed to Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, claimed that the university had been directed to withhold its private admissions shortlist and that plans were underway to convert Kyambogo University into a military facility.
Prof. Katunguka categorically dismissed the claims, emphasizing that they are entirely fabricated and have no connection to the university or any government directive.
He reassured prospective students that the admissions process for the 2026/2027 academic year is proceeding as planned and that all university activities remain unaffected.
The Vice Chancellor said his statement was intended to calm growing anxiety among applicants, parents, and members of the public after the false post gained widespread attention on social media.
Kyambogo University has urged the public to rely only on information published through its official communication channels and warned against sharing unverified reports capable of causing unnecessary panic.
