Comedian Shawa has confirmed that his partnership with fellow comedian Sammie has officially come to an end, bringing the curtain down on the comedy duo popularly known as Sammie & Shawa.
The fallout became public after Sammie announced their separation and accused Shawa of being dishonest and selfish. He also claimed that Shawa had moved on after their rise to fame without properly informing him.
Sammie further alleged that Shawa had continued taking on jobs and earning money using the duo’s name without sharing the proceeds.
Shawa has now given his side of the story, confirming the split while revealing that he has also decided to step away from comedy and concentrate on music.
According to Shawa, the duo was not receiving enough bookings to generate sustainable income, forcing him to explore other opportunities.
He explained that tensions increased after he began pursuing music. Shawa said he initially tried to involve Sammie in his new career by inviting him to appear in his music videos and attend the premiere of his song, but his former partner was unavailable.
“I can never forget where I came from, but when I started music, I invited him to feature in my videos and also to premiere my song. However, he didn’t show up because he was busy,” Shawa said.
Shawa added that he initially believed he could continue with both comedy and music. However, he claimed Sammie wanted to be directly involved in the music project.
“At this time, I thought I would handle both music and comedy, but he said the only way he would support my music was if he had a verse in the song.”
Shawa said he was not comfortable with the suggestion because he wanted his music career to remain an individual project rather than another extension of the comedy duo.
“I didn’t want to make a duo because I started it alone,” he said.
The comedian has since ruled out a reunion, telling fans not to expect another Sammie and Shawa concert. He also indicated that he is not interested in forming another comedy partnership after the experience.
Despite the fallout, Shawa acknowledged that Sammie is also pursuing other opportunities, including a new movie that he said has been gaining attention on social media.
